René Schwarzenbach

Education

René Schwarzenbach, born in 1959, studied at the University of Zurich (lic. iur. 1983, Dr. iur. 1986) and was admitted to the Zurich bar in 1989.

Professional experience

René worked as a research assistant at the University of Zurich (1983-1986), as a clerk at the District Court of Meilen (1986-1989) and as an associate with a law firm in Zurich (1989-1991).  

1991-2011 he worked with Ernst & Young, Legal Services in Zurich. In 1997 he was elected partner. 2002-2011 he was Managing Partner and responsible for the Legal Services of Ernst & Young in all Switzerland, further he was member of the Executive Board of Ernst & Young (2003-2006). As Managing Partner Legal Services he represented Switzerland within the international Legal Network of Ernst & Young (EMEIA Law). 

René Schwarzenbach is practicing as a self-employed attorney-at-law since 2011 in Zurich (until 2023) and in Herrliberg (since 2024). 

Areas of expertise

René's main areas of expertise are succession planning, executor of last will and corporate law.   

René speaks German and English.

Professional connections

René is voluntarily a member of the board of Foundation of the Foundation Children‘s hospital Kantha Bopha, Dr. Beat Richner, Zurich since 2012, 2013-2023 as president. 

René is the founder of Proxy Voting Services GmbH, Zurich, and the firm’s counsel since 2024.
